Child and Family Therapy

The best description of parenting I’ve heard is that it is like your heart forever walking around outside of you. Let’s explore your concerns and get your child (and family) the help they need to experience success and learn lifelong skills. Together, we will:

  • Gain a better understanding of where your child is struggling;
  • Create an individualized and evidence-based plan to help your child build skills (e.g.: coping, problem-solving, flexibility, self-regulation);
  • Enhance your parenting skills to increase your sense of competence and reduce stress;
  • Improve your family relationships.

What to expect

I will work with you to complete a thorough assessment of your child and family’s needs, strengths, and lagging skills.

From there, we will collaborate on a plan with focused goals for treatment. My approach is anchored in Attachment Theory, Collaborative-Problem-Solving, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and Narrative and Solution-Focused Therapies. With experience and training in play therapy, I will integrate creative interventions to engage your child and family in the therapeutic process.

Based on our assessment of the situation and your preferences, we will determine who should be involved in counseling (i.e.: parents/caregivers, child, siblings, etc.) and how often we will meet.

You will have the opportunity to provide feedback throughout the process to ensure that treatment is on track and that services are meeting your needs.
